About Me & My Design Philosophy
Is the glass on
my desk half empty or half full?
To me, it's both, because I
know some of this site's users will think it's half empty and some
will think it's half full. I
view design problems from different users' perspectives and try
to accomodate their views when I design an interface.
I even planned for the different users of this site—I staged my studio's
photo shoot so that my glass would be both half empty and half
full.
What is an "interface"?
Interfaces are not just web sites and handheld devices. An "interface" is
anything that a user interacts with in order to complete a task. The
door handle on your car is an interface because you have to use ("interact
with") it in order to get in your car ("complete a task".)
Board games are also interfaces; players have to interact with
the game rules, pieces, and players in order to win. I have experience
with many types of interfaces; read on to see what I mean. . .
